Statement of Babysana’s family members yet to be taken: JAC

IMPHAL, 10th Sep: In connection with the suspicious death of the minor student inside the hostel of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, the statement of Ningthoujam Babysana’s family members is yet to be taken before the magistrate concerned even though the chief minister had directed the additional DGP and SP Imphal West to do so.
Addressing media persons at Thangmeiband THAU Ground here on Tuesday, Laishram Gyaneshwari , who is the convener of Joint Action Committee against the Murder of Ningthoujam Babysana Chanu, said that agitation demanding disclosure of the precise cause of Babysana’s death and ensuring justice to the student was put on hold following the assurance given by the chief minister to representatives of the JAC during a meeting held on September 5 that all the arrested members of the JAC will be released unconditionally and pressure will be mounted on the authority concerned to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
She contended that the chief minister also informed representatives of the JAC that additional DGP and SP Imphal West had been asked to take statement of Babysana’s family members before the magistrate concerned in connection with the suspicious death of the girl student but the same is yet to be performed despite the passage of five days from the date of the meeting. She urged the chief minister to give strong instruction to the officials concerned for recording statement of the deceased’s family members on Wednesday and gather necessary documents for handing over the sensational case to the leading investigating agency of the country at the earliest. Gyaneshwari, who was elected as convener of the JAC recently, asked the chief minister to hand over the case to the CBI within September 15 failing which the JAC will abstain from holding further talks with the government and take up various modes of intense agitation with support of the public.
Further demanding the government to provide medical treatment to all the people who suffered injuries in the action of the police during staging protest demonstrations against the mysterious death of Babysana, she appealed to the residents of Thangmeiband AC to light candle and stick black flag at the entrance of every household from Wednesday till the case is handed over to the CBI for unbiased investigation.
