Panel formed to regulate land property transfer

IMPHAL, 18th Jul: The state revenue department has constituted a seven-member screening committee to regulate transfer of land property following the cabinet decision adopted on June 26. According to an order dated July 17, the committee has secretary/commissioner (revenue) as its chairperson while MAHUD commissioner/secretary, agriculture commissioner/secretary, IGP (intelligence), ecology & environment director, MARSAC director and DCs concerned are members. The committee shall meet as required to scrutinise proposals submitted by the sub-registrar, based on the information and documents placed before it and make suitable recommendations. Any registration shall be caused only after obtaining recommendation of the committee. The revenue department shall maintain all records and proceedings of the committee. It further stated that no transfer of land property shall be registered by any office of the state government, even if they have been authorised/empowered for such registration, without the approval of the committee.
