CM chairs meet on river rejuvenation project

IMPHAL, 9th July: A team of Tata Consultancy Group held discussion with chief minister N Biren Singh and state government officials on rejuvenating rivers in Manipur. During the meeting held at chief minister’s secretariat Tuesday, the Tata group team approached state government to prioritise rejuvenation of rivers of the state. However, the meeting could not arrive at any concrete decision as the Tata group did not place their clear-cut proposal to state government. The chief minister asked the group to place project proposal first and assured of taking up necessary action by bringing the matter to the state cabinet. The CM also made it clear to the Tata team that the proposed project must not be colluded with the ongoing Nambul river rejuvenation project. The meeting was also attended by water resources minister Letpao Haokip, chief secretary Dr Suresh Babu, principal secretary (finance), water resources secretary, chief engineer (water resources) and director (environment).
