Two held in organ donation scam

IMPHAL, 5th July: A team of Heingang Police Station arrested two persons namely Shahanawaz Ansari (34) S/o Md Rafiq of Rahiman Colony, Delhi Bypass Road, Brahmapuri, Jaipur, Rajasthan and Md Ayub (32) S/o Alimuddin of NH308 Van Vihar Colony, Kachi Basti, Delhi Bypass Road, Jaipur, Rajasthan from their residences for their involvement in extorting money from numerous individuals from all over the country by impersonating as Dr Aarman of Manipal Hospital, Goa. Of the two who posed themselves as medical practitioners, Shahanawaz Ansari executed the plan by posting comments on YouTube and WhatsApp messages, luring the victims with fake organ donor programme from which the donors could get a handsome amount. Money was collected through online transaction from gullible candidates who easily fall into their illicit scheme in the name registration and conducting medical tests. However, upon making the payment, the duo would cook up various situations and excuses to cut off the victims; thus leaving them in a complete state of helplessness, informed a police statement. Meanwhile, police have cautioned the people not to fall into the trap of such individuals who are engaged in carrying out fraud activities to extort money from innocent people and to make a better judgement when they come across such enticing advertisements circulated in the internet.
