Indrasini completes six-medal haul; golden treble for Thabaton
CHRONICLE BUREAU IMPHAL, 16th Aug: Ace shooter N Indrasini grabbed a total of six shooting medals as she rounded off her medal haul with a silver and a bronze on Wednesday at the World Police and Fire Games being held in Los Angeles, USA.
Also, Soraijam Thabaton Chanu (CRPF) produced a remarkable performance in the track event by winning a gold medal each in women’s 800m, 1500m and 5000m races. Another athlete from Manipur W Rehman (CRPF) did his bit in the men’s event claiming three silver medals (800m, 1500m, 5000m). N Indrasini, an CRPF inspector, was one among the most successful Indian competitors with her record six medals. Of her total medal collection, four – two gold and two silver – were individual medals she earned across four days of the shooting completion, while she won the remaining two bronze in team event.
On the closing day the Games, Indrasini added a silver (small bore rifle 50m) and a bronze (team) to her tally. Earlier on Tuesday, she claimed a gold (small bore rifle prone 50m) and a bronze (team). Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP) Avneet Kaur Sidhu won four medals. She won gold medal in 50 metre, silver medal and two bronze medals in different events of the rifle shooting competitions. Avneet is married to former Indian Hockey team player and Arjuna Awardee Rajpal Singh, who is also DSP in Punjab Police. Both Avneet Sidhu and her husband Rajpal are also Arjuna Awardees.
