Manipur girls ease past TN into semis

CHRONICLE BUREAU IMPHAL, 6th Aug: Manipur eased their way into the semifinals of the Junior Girls National Football Championship, following a 12-0 hammering of Tamil Nadu at Barabati Stadium, Odisha, on Saturday.
A Roja and H Daya shared 11 goals between them, with the former hitting six as the first 45 minutes saw eight goals being pumped in. Daya kick-started the firsthalf blitz just three minutes into the game with an assist from Roja. Roja made it 2-0 in a matter of six minutes before Kritina’s fine cross in the 13th minute
set up Daya for her second goal.
Two minutes later, Daya was on target again for her hat trick after taking a well-timed pass from Roja. Then Roja took charge of the rest before halftime collecting four goals in the space of 19 minutes. She scored both her second and third goals (26th, 35th) assisted by Kritina and her fourth one (38th) with the help of Daya, before the striker claimed her fifth and team’s eighth goal just before the break.
After the interval, Manipur were in no mood to relent as they grabbed four more goals through Roja (61st, 90th ), Baleshwori (67th), and Daya (82nd) to earn their place in the last four with relative ease.
