CM Biren predicts BJP triumph in outer seat
IMPHAL, 12th Apr: Amidst reports of EVM glitches and booth capturing in several polling stations during the conduct of the 17th Lok Sabha election in respect of outer Manipur parliamentary constituency on Thursday, chief minister N Biren has predicted that BJP candidate will emerge victorious in the election (outer) by getting over 30,000 votes than the nearest rival.
Making the prediction during a day-long political conference organised by BJP Konthoujam Mandal at the residence of MLA Dr Sapam Ranjan on Friday, Biren informed that an application has been sent to the authority concerned to conduct re-poll in those polling stations where incidents of EVM mal-functioning and booth capturing were reported.
While asserting that Dr RK Ranjan, BJP candidate for the inner Manipur parliamentary constituency, is the right candidate not only for the party but for the people as well, he recounted that Dr Ranjan has made many remarkable contributions towards the state by working as an environmentalist and human rights campaigner.
The chief minister also envisaged that BJP will get more than 20,000 votes in his home turf (Heingang constituency) in the election in respect of inner Manipur parliamentary constituency scheduled for April 18.
Maintaining that the BJP-led government in the state during its two-year rule has been able to bring many significant changes and win hearts of the common people; he said that the government is committed to making Manipur a self-reliant state to sustain all round development in the land.
He cited the successful implementation of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and National Food Security Act (NFSA) as some notable achievements of the BJP-led NDA government at the centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Launching a blistering attack on Congress, Biren charged that there were chaos, animosity amongst the different communities and volatile law & order situation in the state during its long rule in the past.
Following the formation of the BJP government, peace and tranquillity in the state was restored. The government with the objective of bridging the gap between the hills and valley launched “Go to Hills” and “Go to Village” missions which have proved successful. Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) scheme is another ambitious endeavour of the government to provide health insurance to deserving beneficiaries, he said.
Attending the conference, MLA S Rajen opined that it is pertinent to elect BJP candidate in the Lok Sabha election as there is a high possibility of BJP forming government at the centre and Narendra Modi becoming the Prime Minister for the second time. Noting that the state will be benefitted much from the formation of BJP government at the centre, he appealed to the people to support the party and cast vote in favour of Dr RK Ranjan.
BJP Lamsang Mandal also organised a political conference for the party at Lamdeng Khunou.
Another BJP political conference organised by BJP Moirang Mandal was held at Ayangleima community hall, Moirang on Friday in connection with the Lok Sabha election for the Inner Manipur PC.
The event was attended by works minister Th Biswajit as chief guest, Moirang MLA P Saratchandra as president and former Union minister Th Chaoba as guest of honour.
Speaking at the event, Th Chaoba contended that he had done his share in keeping the Congress from holding power in the state. He alleged in its 15 years in power, Congress had worked in their interest only, made the people suffer, abetted influx of outsiders into the state and imposed AFSPA.
On the other hand, BJP has firm commitment for everyone to develop and prosper, he said, adding the state saw less bandhs and blockades after the advent of the BJP government.
He commented that BJP is the right party for the people and other parties are not fit to be competing against BJP.
