MVCA T20: Cyclone, YWC churn out big wins

CHRONICLE BUREAU
IMPHAL, 6th Mar: Cyclone and YWC recorded comprehensive victories in Wednesday’s action of the MVCA T20 Cricket Tournament at Langthabal Public Ground.
Cyclone, who started the day against DSU, cruised to a 54-run win after posting 152/3 and defending their total efficiently, thanks to an all-round performance with bat and ball.
A collective display by the team’s trio of Sashi (53/38 not out), Roben (40/38 not out) and Thoithoi (31/34) helped Cyclone set up a competitive target for their opponents. Cyclone lost their three wickets in the process as two fell prey to Mani’s bowling.
After a fine batting performance, it was up to the bowlers who churned out a lethal display in making short work of the task in 17 overs as DSU were dismissed for 98 runs. Chingtam (31/31) and Jiten (13/11) were notable performers in their run chase.
Surchandra, Binoy and Sidhir all shone with the ball, claiming three wickets apiece to propel Cyclone to a comfortable victory.
YWC (Langthabal), on the other hand, produced a seven-wicket thrashing of LCCC.
The Langthabal side restricted their opponents to 105 for 9 as Nandakumar (21/18), Sanjit (14/13) and Jillangamba (14/14) were the batsmen who scored in double figures for LCCC.
For YWC, Kumarjit was the chief destroyer taking four wickets in his four-over spell, followed by Rojesh who claimed two, with Shashi adding one.
In reply, YWC needed 14.1 overs to finish off the chase as Umakanta led the innings with a 34-run knock off 34 balls. Kuamjit (16/12) and Manaobi (17/15) were other contributors in their triumph.
For LCCC, Sanjit took two wickets.
