SDF dares PM to declare scrapping of CAB
IMPHAL, 9th Feb: Secular Democratic Front (SDF) Manipur, an alliance of seven political parties which was recently formed post passage of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 in Lok Sabha, has challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare his government’s stand of scrapping the Bill during his visit to three northeast states. SDF organised a sit-in protest against CAB at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall Saturday. Leaders of nine political parties, namely AAP, AIFB, BSP, CPI, CPI (M), JDS, NCP, PRJA and RSP, led by CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar also participated in the sit-in to demand withdrawal of the Bill. Speaking at the protest, SDF Manipur convener Dr Th Inaocha accused the Centre of showing apathy towards the situation in northeast. Questioning the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards the welfare and development of northeast region, he challenged Modi to take the stand of scrapping the Bill and declare the same during his visit in the region. He also slammed BJP leaders for trying to create confusion among the people by issuing different statements and claiming that the Bill will not be tabled in Rajya Sabha.
