DyCM stresses on personality development of students
IMPHAL, 19th Jan: Deputy chief minister Y Joykumar has stated that character and personality development is more important than getting high marks and education cannot be termed complete by securing high marks in the examination.
He was speaking at the silver jubilee celebration of RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya held at Haotal, Pangei in Imphal East district Saturday.
Addressing students and teachers of the school, Joykumar said that getting high marks in the examination is important but enhancing character and personality is more important for success in life.
Imparting education would be complete when students become perfect citizens and able to differentiate what is good and bad, he observed while maintaining that human resource is key sector towards developing a state or nation and development index of a nation depends on human resource.
Imparting quality education to the younger generation for a better future is the real essence for efforts being made from various quarters of society, he said and emphasised the need to ensure proper guidance of students.
Appreciating efforts of the Vidyalaya in imparting quality education to girl students, the deputy CM acknowledged that the institution has been contributing a lot in human resource development for the last many years.
Expressing concern over the increasing culture of private tuition in the state, Joykumar said that classroom teaching will be helpful if students can take time and digest what they learnt at the classrooms at their homes. They should be given enough time to digest and enjoy their studies, he added.
The deputy CM also opened an Art & Craft Exhibition at the school campus after honoring teachers and contributors who have been associating with the Vidyalaya.
