EEVFAM calls for suspension of CBI framed cops
IMPHAL, 14th Jan: Extrajudicial Execution Victim Families Association, Manipur (EEVFAM) has demanded suspension of police personnel/officer indicted in the charge sheets of extra judicial execution presented by CBI during the pendency of trial so that the witnesses can freely cooperate with the prosecution and the ongoing trial can proceed in a free and fair manner and justice duly delivered.
In a statement, EEVFAM secretary Yaikhom Edina alleged that the threat and intimidation on the victims and witnesses of the extrajudicial execution despite making a series of reports to the DGP is continuing unabated.
On January 13, 2018 Sukham Purnimabati Devi filed a complaint to the DGP Manipur stating that agents of inspector Pebam John have enticed, intimidated and harassed her for cooperating with the prosecution in connection with the extrajudicial execution of Rk Laksana.
She is one of the prime witnesses of the case.
On October 17, 2018 EEVFAM secretary submitted a written report in connection with the threat and intimidation to one Yengkhom Ibomcha, Jiribam district coordinator of EEVFAM by inspector S Ibotombi Singh who has been charge sheeted.
EEVFAM is deeply concerned that in such vitiated environment it will be impossible for the witnesses to freely dispose their statement and cooperate with the prosecution going in the CBI designated courts, Edina said. While pointing out that the on-going case is as per the direction of the Supreme Court of India in the EEVFAM vs Union of India writ petition (cril) 129 of 2012, the also association urged for suspension of the police officer indicted by the CBI charge sheets of extrajudicial execution from their active duty during the pendency of trial and for the sake of free and fair delivery of justice.
