KSA to ban CAB supporters
IMPHAL, 9th Jan: Asking BJP’s alliance partners in the state like NPP, NPF and LJP to declare their respective stance on Citizenship (Amendment), Bill (CAB) before the Bill is introduced in the Rajya Sabha, Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) has declared that it will impose ban political parties and leaders, which/who do not oppose the CAB.
Announcing this during a press conference at its office Wednesday, KSA president Ningthoujam Chetan said that KSA and the people of Manipur will never accept Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 as it will suppress the Manipur People's Protection Bill that was passed by the state assembly on July 23, 2018. According to the KSA president, the present Union government is on the verge of achieving its dream of converting the North East into a Hindu dominated region by passing the CAB after their experiment in Tripura got success and this Bill is part of India’s policy to reduce indigenous people of the region into minority.
Apart from students and civil society organisations of the NE, political parties of the region should work together against the CAB, he said while maintaining that the Centre’s act is a ‘slow poison’. The impact of the bill might not be felt immediately but it will gradually reduce indigenous people of NE region into minority in their own land and people of the region should fight collectively and steadfastly, he stressed.
