Recruitment of 490 vacant posts underway: MPSC chairman

IMPHAL, 8th Jan: Chairman of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) Dr Konsam Himalay has announced that process for filling up 490 vacant posts in six departments of the state government is underway.
Addressing a press conference Tuesday at MPSC office, North AOC; Himalay disclosed that in the processes taken up for filling up vacant posts in various departments, DPC has been completed for some recruitment. Recruitment process of 13 regular principals of government colleges will be completed within this month, he added.
While noting that requisition from Department of Personnel for recruitment of 70 posts of MCS, MPS, MFS, SDC and MSS was received on January 4, the MPSC chairman said that the commission is trying to conduct the DPC for the said vacant posts withon short notice and added that efforts are on for conducting examination for recruitment of 376 posts similar to SO Grade I/II in Engineering department by January/February this year.
Even though government requisition has been received for appointing principals of LMS Law College, DM College of Teacher Education and Hindi Teachers’ Training College, the process is pending as there is a stay order from the High Court.
Moreover, following a court ruling, results for recruitment of eight CDPO posts in Social Welfare department and 22 MVS Grade-IV posts in Veterinary department are yet to be declared, Himalay conveyed. The chairman conveyed that the commission is maintaining transparency and putting efforts to improve its service. The commission, which exists as a constitutional authority, is responsible for recruitment of Grade-I/II officers of Manipur government, conducting DPC for promotion, framing service rules, etc., he added.
Highlighting the achievements of MPSC in recent times, Himalay pointed out that in about 17 months’ time since May, 2017 the commission has successfully completed recruitment of 604 posts to fill up vacancies in various departments including two PROs, two DIOs and one APO in DIPR; 11 Dental Surgeons, three Ayurvedic Physicians, nine Homeopathic Physicians, two Nature Cure physicians in health department; four posts of Assistant Director in Economics and Statistics department; one secretary of Rajya Sainik Board under Home department; two posts of Assistant Architect in PWD; 13 regular principals of college and 255 assistant professors in Higher Education department and one post of principal of Government Polytechnic, etc.
In addition to this, 155 DPC meetings were held for promotion of staff in various departments and many have also been promoted, the MPSC chairman stated and affirmed that the commission would welcome suggestions and inputs from the people in making the commission a transparent body.
