JNIMS doctors to take mass leave today; director cautions
IMPHAL, 26th Dec: Doctors of JNIMS have threatened to take a mass casual leave on December 27 and stage sit-in protest over alleged non-implementation of the resolutions of the Teachers’ Association JNIMS by the JNIMS authority.
As pre-emptive step, JNIMS director Prof Th Bhimo has issued an order for compulsory attendance of all the employees of JNIMS and Dental College JNIMS on December 27.
Announcing the agitation plan, association president Dr Th Opendro and general secretary Dr Loitongbam Nelson informed in a joint statement that decision to take mass casual leave was taken at the executive body meeting of Teachers’ Association JNIMS on Wednesday after the JNIMS authority did not pay any heed to their demands.
As decided earlier, the member doctors will take mass casual leave on December 27 and will hold a sit-in protest in front of the office of the JNIMS medical superintendent, the statement said and urged all the members to submit casual leave applications to their respective head of departments and attend the mass sit-in protest.
Meanwhile, a statement issued on December 24 by JNIMS director Prof Th Bhimo instructed all the employees of the JNIMS and Dental College JNIMS not to take leave except for medical reasons on Dec 27. All the tenured doctors, senior resident-tutor-demonstrator of All Manipur Health Services deputed at the institute should compulsorily attend their office, it added No employee of JNIMS will be granted leave due to the examination conducted by Manipur University from January 3 to February 2, 2019.
Dean academics, medical superintendent, nursing superintendent and sister in-charge are asked to implement the order, the statement maintained.
