DoNER minister not happy with fund use in NE
NEW DELHI, 28th Nov: Taking serious note of the fact that the states in Northeast are not using funds up to the mark DoNER minister Dr Jitendra Singh has asked the chief ministers of NE states to expedite fund utilisation. Aware of the fact that Central fund utilisation process in the region is very poor, Dr Singh has asked the states to expedite fund utilisation so that financial support made available to them from the Centre can be used to the maximum extent for the development of the region.
The DoNER minister said this while presiding over a meeting of senior officers of DoNER and NEC to review the status of Central Budget expenditure in Northeast in the current financial year. “Delayed response on the part of some of the states deprives the people from getting optimum benefits envisaged for them,” he said. The meeting also decided that DoNER ministry and NEC will embark on hi-tech digitalisation programmes for all the eight states in the region. In addition, commemorative programmes to observe the 150th birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi will also be held in Northeast. DoNER secretary Naveen Verma, NEC secretary Ram Muivah and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
