CM seeks central fund for women’s markets
IMPHAL, 12th Nov: Chief Minister N Biren met the Union Finance Minister and other senior ministry officials on Monday and discussed various issues concerning the state's finances. In the meeting, the CM apprised the ministry regarding the state's financial situation. The meeting ended on a positive note with the Finance Minister expressing understanding of the state's concerns. On Sunday, Biren met officials of PMO and discussed about the developmental needs of the state and priorities being accorded to various sectors. PMO officials expressed their satisfaction over the speedy progress achieved against time bound targets of important projects. During the discussions, the CM requested the Finance Minister and PMO officials for assistance in constructing more women’s markets, Thoubal Project, state guesthouse, Loktak Livelihood Mission and some other important projects. An amount of about Rs 2600 crore has been recommended for taking up drinking water schemes in the state by the ministries of water resource, external affairs, MHA, urban development and poverty alleviation and NITI Ayog. The Finance Minister also assured of quick action for recommending assistance from the New Development Bank. Biren also met Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and invited her to attend the Manipur Sangai Festival 2018.
