Education must to bring changes: Ram Muivah

IMPHAL, 10th Nov: North Eastern Council (NEC) Shillong secretary Ram Muivah has stated that education is the only means of ending the poverty and inequality in the state brought on by years of insurgent activities and further help in bringing positive changes to the society as a whole. Speaking as chief guest on occasion of the 18th annual social meet of Patkai Christian Academy held at its Shangshak Changraphung campus, Ukhrul on Saturday, Muivah noted that years of insurgency have impacted the state’s progress in a huge way. This also hindered development of various minor communities in Manipur. As such, education is the only means through which all forms inequality and poverty in the state can be removed apart from usher in changes to the society, he stated. Urging the students to work hard while giving emphasis on the IT sector so as to join the global race, the secretary suggested not to follow the herd mentality of pursuing only while-collar jobs. One should strive to become an employer instead of trying to seek employment under others, he stated. Further pointing out the richest people on the planet are entrepreneurs and not government employees, Ram Muivah urged teachers to teach the students that government jobs are not the only means necessary to live a successful life. The soil testure of Ukhrul is favourable for planting various types of vegetables. Thus, the students can be motivated to plant rare plants and become successful entrepreneurs, he suggested.
Patkai Christian Academy has been producing many exemplary students since its inception, many of whom are holding respectable posts in offices of various states. As such, students from Nagaland also attend the academy. Therefore, locals of Ukhrul district should send their children to the Academy so that they may become successful in life, the secretary conveyed.
The function was attended by Patkai Academy founder Reverend Singsit and his family, 17 AR commandant, Academy principal, staff and parents and guardians of the students.
As part of the function, a yearbook of the academy was released by the chief guest, which was followed by various entertainment programmes presented by students.
