Nov 15 deadline served to upgrade 4 aided colleges
IMPHAL, 29th Oct: Maintaining that the four aided colleges namely SK Women College, Bishnupur; Waikhom Mani Girls College, Thoubal; South East Manipur College, Komlathabi and Moreh College, Moreh have no shortcomings in terms of infrastructure and students, the Four Government Aided College Teachers’ Association has served November 15 as deadline for upgrading the four aided colleges into full-fledged government colleges. Issuing a statement in this regard, association’s convener reminded that the Education minister had on May 27, 2018 announced the government will soon approve upgrade of the said four aided colleges after the verification by Directorate of Higher Education and University is completed. Since the verification process has been completed and the cabinet ministers had already agreed to approve upgrading the aided colleges into full-fledged colleges after verification, the association once again appealed to the government to translate the assurance into action before November 15. Otherwise, the employees of the four aided colleges will be compelled to launch different forms of agitation from the next day and the teachers will not take responsibility for examination duty. The state government should be responsible for all consequences, cautioned the association.
