CCpur police solve extortion case, three arrested

CCPUR, 22nd Oct: In a swift action, Churachandpur district police nabbed all three youths who extorted money from proprietor of an electronic goods shop on October 20 evening. The three nabbed youths are identified as Chinlianthang (19) son of Khamsuanmung Thangnop of Headquarter Belam Veng, Mangliankhup (18) son of late Ginsuankap of Tangpizol, Singhat at present residing at Immanuel Khopi and Siantungthang (21) son of Kaichinkhup Samte also of Tangpizol village.

SDPO Churachandpur Shivanand Sarve told media persons Monday that proprietor of Electro System Shop namely Chinsuanmung lodged a complaint at CCpur police station that three unidentified youths entered his shop at 5pm of October 20. The youths armed with gun, knife and iron rod suddenly closed the shutter of the shop and tried to slit the throat of Chinsuanmung’s wife apart from threatening to kill Chinsuanmung if they raised any alarm. The trio then opened the shutter and ran away after taking Rs 67,000 but one of them (Chinlianthang) was handed over to the police after he apprehended by public when the couple shouted for help, the SDPO said, adding that police recovered Rs 40,000 cash, three mobile phones, two wallets, two identity cards from the possession of Chinlianthang.

Based on information given by Chinlianthang, district police swung into action by carrying out an investigation during which one Honda Activa (black colour) bearing registration number MN O2A-8410 used by the trio was recovered from near the SBI Ccpur branch.

Later, police arrested Mangliankhup and Siantungthang, Shivanand Sarve said, adding that such attempts to extort money will be dealt with heavily and appealed to people to share information through mobile number 6909161233.
