Centre keen to revive defunct industries: Tombi
IMPHAL, 20thOct: Shiv Sena Manipur president M Tombi conveyed that Union Cabinet Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises Anand Ganagaram Geete has given positive response regarding the party's proposal for revival of the spinning mill at Loitang Khunou and Jiri Tea Estate.
A team of Shiv Sena Manipur led by president Tombi is currently at Mumbai to attend the annual meeting of the party being organised at Shivaji Park, Mumbai. Speaking to this daily via telephone, M Tombi informed that the matter was brought up to Union Minister Anand Geete’s attention by the team, while taking opportunity of the meeting held on Friday.
The state delegation also submitted a memorandum to the minister stating that revival of the Loitang Khunou Spinning Mill and Jiri Tea Estate has tremendous scope for generate jobs for the unemployed youths.
In response, MP Anand Geete gave assurances to help revive the two industries that have been lying defunct for more than 15 years. After the culmination of the meeting, the team informed the party leaders about the initiatives taken up by Shiv Sena in Manipur.
Discussions were also held regarding the visits of MP Anand Geete and other party leaders to the state in connection with the upcoming MP elections in 2019, Tombi conveyed. The president also informed that the party would be taking part in the mass rally being organised by UCM on October 31.
