ZCOs lift ban on national project

IMPHAL,17th Oct: Zeliangrong Civil Organisations (ZCOs) have suspended ban on construction works of national project in Zeliangrong areas with immediate effect. The ban was imposed since midnight of September 12, 2018 demanding arrest of NSCN (IM) functionaries namely Sangailung Pamei, deputy kilonser Thailik alias Joel and captain Khangdih Gangmei in connection with abduction of youth and student’s leaders on August 4, 2018 at Tamenglong District HQ and intimidation and threat meted out to leaders of ZCOs.

According to a statement of Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) issued by its general secretary Gainithoi Gonmei, the lifting of ban on national projects at Zeliangrong areas depended upon the follow up action of the state government and Government of India.

But the ban on construction of Imphal-Kangchup road under the ADB funding will continue. The decision to lift the ban was taken during a meeting with Chief Minister N Biren Singh at his office Wednesday around 11 am. The Chief Minister assured to the nine-member delegation of ZCOs led by Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) president Athuan Abonmai, and comprising representatives of Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Students’ Union that necessary step will be taken in coordination with the Government of India. Zeliangrong Civil Organisations also felicitated CM N Biren Singh on being voted the 3rd best Chief Minister of the country, added the statement.
