Thangjam Tababi, lone Indian Judo player at 2018 Youth Olympics

IMPHAL,3rd, Oct: Thangjam Tababi Devi, the only Judo player to represent India at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, accompanied by coach Chingkhei Huidrom reached Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday. Tababi, who hails from Mayang Imphal Kokchai, has had an impressive record of medal haul. She has won a gold and a silver medals in her international outings, in addition to her 12 gold, four silver and a bronze medals in national competitions.

An Indian contingent of 68 members will compete in 13 sports during the prestigious event. The Games will start on Saturday, October 6 and run through Thursday, October 18. This is India's largest ever contingent at the Youth Olympics. Hockey has most number of Indian participants with 18 (nine each in men's and women's team) while track and field has seven athletes. Other Indian participants are: shooting (4), recurve archery (2), badminton (2), swimming (2), table tennis (2), weightlifting (2), wrestling (2), rowing (2), boxing (1), judo (1), sport climbing (1).
