Three records tumble on Day 4 of state shooting competition

IMPHAL: Three new state records were set on Day 4 of the 27th All Manipur Shooting Competition at the Khuman Lampak Shooting Range on Wednesday. Pritamjit Maibam shot a record-breaking total of 371 to eclipse M Kanta’s 13-year-old record of 367 in the air pistol (NR) Championship 10m junior men’s event. Khumalambam Erika, meanwhile, made her mark in the .177 peep sight air rifle 10m women (Novices)’s competition with a score of 351, breaking S Rameshwori’s long-held record of 292 (2009).

Also, RK Mamta Devi set a new mark in the .177 peep sight air rifle (ISSF) 10m junior women’s event after accumulating 385 points that surpassed 380-point-record held by Wahengbam Julia. Two shooters also shone in the day’s competition with two wins apiece. Sanasam Darius won both .177 peep sight air rifle (NR) 10m men’s (369) and 10m junior men’s (369) events, while Leitanthem Stacy claimed both .177 peep sight air rifle (NR) 10m women’s (365) and 10m junior women’s (365) titles. Among the other shooters who emerged victorious were Jelidit Kshetrimayum (air rifle 10m men’s novices), Gurumayum Devjeet Sharma (air rifle 10m sub-junior men’s), Khagemba Loukrakpam (10m pistol junior men’s - ISSF) and Jackson Longjam (10m pistol youth men’s - ISSF).
