KSA volunteers lock down Edu(S) office
IMPHAL, 4th Sep: A large number of volunteers of Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) on Tuesday locked down the office of Education (Schools) at Lamphelpat over its alleged failure to implement rules and regulations for private schools.
KSA secretary general Seram Hemjit told media persons that CoHSEM issued a notification in 2015 regarding implementation of ‘Modified regulations for recognition of higher secondary schools 2015’. But in complete violation of the regulations which forbid disturbance to nearby school while giving recognition to another school, there was an attempt to relocate Ching-Tam School Yairipok just opposite to an existing school in Thoubal.
KSA and several organisations opposed the move and demanded the authority not to authorise the relocation. However, the department issued no objection certificate on August 27, thus showing clear evidence of corrupt practice in the council. Demanding suspension of the officials, who approved the relocation and revocation of the NOC at the earliest, he said that KSA will boycott and shut down the office of education (s) indefinitely until their demands are met. He further said that KSA will also boycott and shut down CoHSEM office if it gives recognition as per instruction of the department without considering its own regulations.
