MU row: CM assures high power probe committee
IMPHAL,10th Aug: Chief minister N Biren has reportedly assured a delegation of MU community Friday that he would mount pressure on Central government to constitute a high power independent committee to probe allegations levelled against Manipur University vice chancellor professor AP Pandey.
MUSU general secretary Laishram Kenedy told media persons that a delegation of MU community comprising leaders of MUSU, MUTA and MUSA held talk with chief minister N Biren at the latter's office from 5pm. The talk could not be termed fruitfull but the MU community relaxed its earlier stand on removal of professor AP Pandey and placed to the CM that a high power independent committee should be constituted to probe against VC. The CM too assured to pressurise Central government on the matter, he said, adding that the inquiry will be conducted during the tenure of leave granted to AP Pandey and MU community will discuss on means to declare results of examinations conducted by the varsity. However, the ongoing agitation of MU community will continue amidst the investigation, he added.
