Shyamkumar asks Jiri encroachers to vacate
JIRIBAM, 7th July: MAHUD and town planning minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar has asked illegal encroachers to vacate from the land proposed/reserved for construction of a toilet complex in Jiribam Ima market. The minister was inspecting the market complex, which is under-construction, on Saturday. Interacting with media persons during his visit, Shyamkumar informed that legal notice will be served to the illegal encroachers to vacate within seven days.
The illegally encroached area earlier had a toilet complex which was part of the old market. The state government is planning to construct a new toilet complex at the said location for the new Jiribam Ima market, the minister informed.
Construction works of the market complex, which has a total capacity to accommodate 250 women vendors, at a total cost of Rs 10 crore is in full swing to meet the completion target. The market complex will be incomplete without a toilet facility, he said, while appealing to the people to cooperate with the government in smooth progress of the work. Expressing hope that construction works will be completed soon, the minister said that he will consult chief minister N Biren Singh for inauguration of the market complex.
Shyamkumar was accompanied by DC Jiribam Robert Kshetrimayum, Jiribam Municipal Council chairperson S Shanti and MMAS executive officer M Rajen among others.
