Model, YWC-L upstage opponents in MCA T20 Luwangpokpa Trophy

IMPHAL, 7th MARCH: Both Model Club and YWC (L) had an easy day in Tuesday’s fixtures of the MCA T20 Luwangpokpa Trophy.Model Club started the day with a five-wicket win over YWC (P) in their Group C league match.YWC, who chose to bat first, made the innings un-productive for themselves with some wasteful batting. They ended up mustering 89 for seven, the target which the other side had little dif-ficulty in achieving it.Amitra was their key run-getter. He scored 33 off 45 balls and Rakesh made 16 from 20 deliveries.

           In reply, Model Club need-ed 17.3 overs to knock off the runs as they lost five wickets in their successful run chase.Priyobarta shone with the bat making an unbeaten 22 off 18 balls. Bashid (16) and Dhamendra (11) were other notable batsmen.Although there was some good bowling from YWC, it wasn’t enough to tilt the game in their favour. Pin-ky picked up two wickets while Rakesh, Amitra and Prameshor took one apiece.Earlier, Bishworjit finished with two scalps as Mangi and Tejkumar claimed one wicket each for the winning side.Priyobarta was the man of the match.Later, YWC (L) had little trouble beating NAPSA by 60 runs.YWC put up an imposing target for their opponents as Bishwas made the most of the innings with a gritty knock.Bishwas was unbeaten on 50 from 33 balls.

         He was ably supported by Prafullomani, who struck 35 runs in 18 balls, and Jicko (21). The trio’s he-roics paved the way for their team’s emphatic victory.Chasing a daunting tar-get, NAPSA batted cautiously but their approach cost them runs as they ended up falling short of 60 runs after the last ball was bowled. The team lost six wickets in their losing effort.Prakashwani was the pick of YWC’s bowlers with three wickets. Bishwas and Johnson got one apiece.Earlier, Bonny took three wickets as Nitesh and Mathew claimed one each for NAPSA.Bishwas, who hit an un-beaten half century, was ad-judged the man of the match.
