MNLTCA lead medal table on first day of Imphal West Thang-Ta Competition

IMPHAL, 9th June: MNLTCA, Maklang made the most of the first day of the 12th Imphal West District Thang-Ta Competition which got underway at Maklong Bazar Community Hall, Imphal West.
MNLTCA grabbed a total of six medals, all in sub-junior boys’ competition, across six events on offer on Friday. The Maklang athletes claimed two gold, four silver and two bronze to lead the medal table.
Ridesh (-33kg) and Ng Bolen (-37kg) emerged winners in their respective categories as L Yicky (-21kg), A Bishal (-29kg), S Dinesh (-37kg) and Ch Rishikanta (-45kg) bagged a silver each, in addition to two bronze from A Biyash (-25kg) and Nganthoiba (-45kg).
PAHULAS, Mayaikoibi also made their mark on the opening day by clinching two gold and one each of silver and bronze.
Altogether, 181 participants including 24 girls from 10 units under the Imphal West District Thang-Ta Association are competing in the three-day tournament organised by Meitei Nongsha Lallong Thang-Ta Cultural Association, Maklong Branch.
S Rajen Singh, deputy chairman State Planning Board and Huidrom Premkumar Singh, chairman Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd Manipur attended the opening ceremony as chief guest and president respectively.
