Computerised weight memo made mandatory

IMPHAL, 6th June: In compliance with the directive of High Court of Manipur and the subsequent order issued by transport director, DC Jiribam has notified gross vehicle weight of all goods trucks plying along NH 37 (Imphal-Jiribam) and made it mandatory for the trucks to acquire computerised weight memo from designated weight bridge at Jiribam.
The DC, in the order issued on June 4, stated that heavy vehicles coming from Jiribam side to Imphal carrying all types of goods should get weighed at the weight bridge located at Jiribam Babupara Railway Station, which is maintained by FCI and get the computerised weight memo to cross Makru, Nungdolan, Barak and Irang bridges. Further, the order has limited gross vehicle weight for trucks with three or more axles to 24 MT and two axle vehicles to 9 to 16.2 MT according to the vehicle type. It also directed SP Jiribam to ensure strict compliance of the directions and furnish action taken report at the earliest.
