Chajing, Langol in Challenge Cup final

CHRONICLE BUREAU IMPHAL, 17th May: Chajing FC and Langol FC battled past their opponents in the Challenge Cup veterans’ football semifinals held at Mapal Kangjeibung on Thursday.
The first semifinal action saw Chajing FC edge out Lilong FC as S Budha’s first-half strike sent his team straight into the final.
It was a see-saw battle throughout but Chajang proved themselves with attacks and resolute defence that were being rewarded at the end.
Budha’s important came after 26 minutes of back-and-forth exchanges as he side clung on to earn their well-deserved win.
Langol FC too were made to work hard by SHDSVA for their place in the final as Singsit starred in their 1-0 victory.
After a flurry of attacks and counter-attacks for 42 minutes, Singsit swiftly reacted to a well-timed pass, created a space in the opposition goalmouth and sent the ball into the net.
SHDSVA fought hard but they failed to capitalise on the remaining minutes as the Langol squad defended well and made sure they had the final say.
