PSC, Al-Ameen to meet in Plate tourney semis

CHRONICLE BUREAU IMPHAL, 24th Apr: PSC, Khuyathong and Al-Ameen, Lilong won their quarterfinal matches with ease to set up semifinal clash of the 4th Plate Tournament.
PSC outplayed UCC, Uripok by five wickets in their quarterfinal encounter at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
The Khuyathong side bowled out their opponents for 98 and then knocked off the target with five wickets to spare.
Raghav (34/50) and Rakeshwor (14/16) were notable run-scorers for UCC in their innings.
PSC’s quartet of Saurabh, Martin, Kala and Rakesh bowled well to restrict the Uripok team to a paltry total in 25.4 overs and lay the platform for their victory. Saurabh and Martin both finished with three scalps from six overs, while Kala and Rakesh did their bit with two wickets apiece.
The batting unit then made short work of their run chase, scoring the winning runs (102) in 23.5 overs with five wickets remaining.
In the process, Bungoraj hit 29 off 33 and Prasanta smashed 27 off 25 to help their team earn an easy passage to the last four.
For UCC, Ayush picked three wickets, with Raghav and Satish claiming one each.
Saurabh Bishwas was the man of the match.
At Langthabal Public Ground, Al-Ameen dominated CDC, Sagolband by seven wickets to cruise into the semifinals.
Electing to bat, CDC could only muster 94 after being dismissed in 29.5 overs. London (15), Surjit (10), Robin (8), Aden (8) and Bob (6) were their run-getters in the innings.
Rajat Choudhury and Barbar Azam, who both took three wickets, and Abdullah (2) were the chief wicket-takers for Al-Ameen as Noushad and Samar added one each.
In reply, they needed just 17.1 overs to complete the chase with contributions from Rajat (29/35 not out), Sahil (16/22), Rashid (25/20 not out) and Bashid (16/23).
For CDC, Aiden claimed two wickets while Surjit and Robin took one each.
Rajat Choudhury earned the man-of-the-match accolade.
Model Club are up against PCC in the first semifinal on Wednesday (April 25) as PSC and Al-Ameen go head to head the next day.
