Gross violation of NFSA guidelines in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC: RK Anand

STAFF REPORTER IMPHAL, 22nd Apr: Claiming that gross violation of the guidelines of National Food Security Act (NFSA) has been detected while providing food grains in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa assembly constituency, thereby resulting in non-deserving persons enjoying benefits and deserving beneficiaries being deprived of their benefits, ex-MLA RK Anand has drawn attention of the government into this matter.
The former MLA was speaking while inaugurating a rest house cum community kitchen (Walhousang) at Ireima Ibendhou Shanglen, Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai on Sunday. The rest house has been constructed under MLA local area development fund sanctioned during his tenure along with contributions from the local residents.
Speaking at the occasion, he pointed out that deserving beneficiaries have already been identified through pradhans and ward members. However, fair price shop agents are reportedly providing rice benefits based on electoral roll at the expense of the provisions for deserving beneficiaries. As a result, several non-deserving persons are enjoying NFSA provisions while deserving beneficiaries are being deprived of their full benefits.
Maintaining that the government introduced and implemented the scheme for the poor families, he said that the present system being followed in the constituency is in gross violation of the scheme guidelines and it has made the objectives of the scheme meaningless. He demanded CAF&PD minister Karam Shyam to look into the matter and take up appropriate actions to address the situation. Stating that he had taken up road development works in almost all important roads in the constituency, the ex-MLA said that the state PWD should take up necessary initiatives to repair the roads. The present MLA is also doing whatever he could to bring development in the constituency, he said and added that the MLA should pursue further development projects in different sectors.
He further said that he had upgraded several inter-village roads into Other District Roads (ODRs) and ODRs into Major District Roads (MDRs).
The ex-MLA also drew attention of the present government over the failure of Langthabal Water Supply Scheme to provide safe drinking water supply in some key areas. Even though he included several irrigation projects to ensure round the year irrigation facilities, the new government has done nothing to continue and complete the projects, which would improve agricultural activities and produces in the constituency, he added.
Ireima Ibendhou Haraoba Committee president Dr Oinam Kullabidhu and ISA president Okram Samungou were among others who attended the inauguration function.
