Army seizes WY tablet worth Rs 1.22 crore

IMPHAL, 10th Apr: Noney Battalion of Loktak Brigade apprehended two drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of WY tablets on Monday from Permanent Vehicle Check Post, Noney district. According to a PIB (DW) statement, the seized tablets numbered approximately 2,44,000 pieces, 26.74 kg and packed in 122 packets. The cost of the seized drugs is around Rs 1.22 crore in international market. During routine frisking, a white-coloured Mahindra Bolero (MN 06L 5596) was spotted coming from Imphal side. On seeing the security forces, the driver and co-driver were nervous which raised suspicion. On thorough checking of the vehicle, these packets were found concealed in the door of the vehicle. On detailed enquiry, the smugglers revealed that the illegal drug was being transported from Lilong to Jiribam. The individuals are identified as YM Zakariya and Md Fakhir Ahamad both belonging to Thoubal district and they were handed over to Narcotics and Affairs of Border, PS Imphal.
