'MadeInUkhrul 2018' concludes taking the vision forward

R LESTER MAKANG UKHRUL, 10th Apr: The first edition of MadeInUkhrul 2018 Entrepreneurship Conclave Cum Trade Fair organised by Hill Wild Pvt Ltd concluded at Indoor Stadium, Bakshi Ground, Hungpung at Ukhrul district headquarters here on April 6.
Held under the theme “Sustainable Ukhrul 2030”, the event which was inaugurated on April 5, attracted a total of 92 local entrepreneurs from across the district, whose products ranged from processed fruits and vegetables, fresh vegetables, woodcrafts, handloom & handicrafts, paintings, agriculture and horticulture produces, furniture, confectioneries, florists, chocolates and processed meats.
"With this conclave cum trade fair, the event is now a yearly event and will be a platform for all home grown entrepreneurs to showcase their products to help connect with buyers from within and outside Ukhrul and create better market linkages," said Zeinorin Angkang, founder & chief marketing officer of Hill Wild Private Limited, adding that the event has shown that Ukhrul could truly be a sustainable place in more ways than one had expected.
"Through this platform, we expect our local entrepreneurs to encourage one another which is vital for entrepreneurial growth but not view the other as business rival," she further anticipated.
Elaborating on the theme for the event “Sustainable Ukhrul 2030”, she stated that it all came out of the vision for making local products self-sustained within the district and ease on their import. "Our goal is to make Ukhrul an organic district by 2030," she exuded hope while adding that: "To start with, we have identified certain products to be pushed for production on a larger scale to sustain the demands within the district – bread, eggs, fish and pork, while there are few more products like traditional spices & seasonings, honey, pickles and plum would be pushed for more production for bigger markets."
Stressing on the need for a structured setup amongst the local entrepreneurs, Angkang disclosed that to help local entrepreneurs set up stalls and avail facilities such as registration of their business licenses, food safety licenses, bank accounts, GST registration and others, Ukhrul Autonomous District Council’s Small Town Committee, Food Safety Division of Ukhrul District Hospital, GST registration team and United Bank of India have been apprised on the matter.
During the two-day event, lectures, interactive sessions and workshops were conducted where established entrepreneurs like ishippo.com CEO Karma Bhutia, GNRC Hospitals CEO Satabdee Borah, Tartl CEO Vignesh Rmeswamy, Swaaha founder Gaurav Gupta, Dr Suryanil Ghosh of Total Start Ecosystem Developers and Mailtangy co-founder Devna Agarwal shared their experiences with the participants.
