CM exhorts officers to be architect of development
STAFF REPORTER/DIPR IMPHAL, 8th Apr: Chief Minister NBiren Singh has urged all officers to work together in order to put in best ideas and suggestions, plan for execution and ensure availability of the benefit to the common people.
The Chief Minster was speaking during an interaction programme with all the officers of the organised services of the state held at City Convention Centre, Imphal East Sunday.
Addressing the congregation, the Chief Minister said that such interaction programme with the officers of both state and central services is first of its kind in the political history of Manipur. One of the objectives of the interaction programme is to highlight the importance of working together and extending cooperation to one another so that development for the state could be achieved more effectively, he added.
Mentioning that the ‘Go to the Village’ mission is not to gain political mileage, he stated that the sole objective of the mission is to help and uplift the needy and poor people and to bring some positive changes in the state. He urged the officers to work collectively and efficiently with commitment in transforming the rural landscape and economy of the state. Proper co-operation and co-ordination is needed to bring positive changes in the state, he added.
The Chief Minister further stressed that the government needs valuable suggestions and opinions of the officers for proper implementation of various government schemes.
Chief Minister N Biren also announced that the officers who shares best ideas/suggestions will be awarded. He also noted that there is the need to change the present mind-set of officers towards becoming more open and receptive in approach.
Briefing about the ‘Go to the Village’ mission, the Chief Minister asked the officers of the different department to co-ordinate with one another in order to make the mission successful. He also declared that State Level Committee has been formed and Sub-Committee and District Level Committee would be constituted soon. He directed the DCs and HODs to identify the beneficiaries of various schemes and projects. The purpose of such mission is not merely to visit the village and meeting its people but to understand the grievances and problems faced by them and to deliver/render departmental services for the welfare of the people.
Biren further observed that the essence of doing politics is to ensure quality of life and work for the welfare of the people. The present government fully endorses Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision ‘Saab ka Sath Saab ka Vikas’. As such one should ask himself/herself repeatedly what he/she has contributed for the upliftment of the people and betterment of society.
He/she needs to extend every possible help to uplift the poor and needy people so as to create a good society, he added. N Biren further said that the state needs to implement more inclusive development works/ schemes with human approach.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that there would be good governance when there is transparency in the state.
Citing that if there is a will there is a way, he said that there has been tremendous improvement in certain sectors such as road connectivity, health, power etc, in the last one year due to the sincere efforts of the present government. He appreciated the efforts and achievements made by the committed officers in implementing various schemes/projects in the last one year. He further said that the Prime Minister was indeed happy to learn about developmental works being implemented in the state and bringing emotional integration among the people.
Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary, DGP, senior bureaucrats and other officers participated and gave their valuable suggestions during the interaction programme.
