Eight persons hurt, six vehicles damaged in TML road mishap

CORRESPONDENT TAMENGLONG, 28th Feb: As many as eight persons including women were critically injured and six vehicles damaged when a Cruiser passenger carrier (AS11CC 1391) hit several vehicles in Tamenglong town Wednesday afternoon.

In connection with the mishap, an FIR has been registered at Tamenglong police station.

The incident happened when the Cruiser developed a brake failure and ran down hitting all the six vehicles one after another. The Cruiser plies between Tamenglong and Jiribam as passenger vehicle.

Some of the injured persons were occupants of damaged vehicles, which include an auto rickshaw and a Maruti 800 DX.

The injured persons have been identified as RK Lumgongliu (39) wife of Achun of Chaengdai village presently residing at Model Village; Gaichuilung Gangmei (30) son of late Thuanmonang Gangmei of Dimthanlong; Guihoubou Daimei (56) son of Sangdubou of Model Village; Samson Panmei (60) son of Rev N Palmei of Chingkhiulong; Miuridinliu Kamei (40) wife of Neilalung of Sempang village; Thiubuiliu Gonmei (49) wife of Kajalung of Thiulon village; Adina (46) of Tamenglong ward No 5; and driver of the Cruiser Thaireilung (32) son of Khanglalung of Benakandi of Assam.

Of the eight injured persons, RK Lumgongliu has been kept under observation at Tamenglong district hospital. Gaichuilung Gangmei was immediately evacuated to Imphal for further treatment. The other injured persons are also undergoing treatment at the district hospital. Personnel of 23rd Assam Rifles helped the district administration in towing all damaged vehicles to Tamenglong police station.
