AR recovers gold worth Rs 69 lakh

CHRONICLE BUREAU IMPHAL, 26th Feb: Troops 12 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR apprehended two persons who were carrying 14 gold biscuits (2.324 kg) at Khudengthabi on Monday.

Around 3.45 pm, a silver colour Maruti van (MN01G 3002) coming from Moreh was stopped at PVCP, Khudengthabi. While checking, 14 gold biscuits were found hidden in various places - inside the shoes, mobile phone in place of battery and attached to the buckle of the leather belt, a release of IGAR (South) informed.

The approximate value of the recovered gold is Rs 69,72,000. The apprehended duo- Sabir Ahamed, (23) son of Md Turabali and Rafijuddin (28) son of Md Hifijuddin, both of Lilong and the recovered gold have been handed over to Custom Preventive Force, Moreh, the release added.
