STAFF REPORTER/DIPR IMPHAL, 25th Feb: In addition to updating progress of developmental projects and deliberations on organisational matters, top brass of the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold discussions with chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP-ruled states over feasibility of simultaneous conduct of elections to all state assemblies, said chief minister N Biren Singh.
Speaking on the side-lines of distributing loans of Manipur State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) Limited at the CM’s bungalow on Sunday, the chief minister informed that though the meeting scheduled on February 28 at the national capital will mainly focus on strengthening BJP ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the same session might take a resolution on conducting the assembly elections at one go.
While conveying that he along with three senior ministers, accompanied by senior leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh would attend the meeting, Biren also confided about plans to celebrate the first anniversary of the BJP-led coalition government in the state in a grand manner.
Stating that the party’s top leaders are keen to push for the ‘one nation-one election’ idea, he informed that around 100 schemes/projects would be inaugurated/launched from March 1 to 15 as part of the celebration of the BJP-led government’s first year in office.
Stating that the inauguration and launch of projects would be conducted under the ‘inauguration fortnight’, the CM explained that BJP ministers and MLAs will finalise those projects which are to be dedicated to the people or would be launched.
While Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to visit the state on March 14 to attend the anniversary celebration on March 15, the state government has been advised to send a formal invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to join the anniversary celebration in order to capitalise on PM’s presence in Manipur in connection with the upcoming 105th session of the Indian Science Congress at Manipur University, he maintained.
BJP National president Amit Shah too is likely to take part in celebration, Biren said.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister distributed loans to 179 beneficiaries and members of SHGs amounting to Rs 2,35,01,000 under MSCB Ltd.
Of the total amount, Rs 1,38,34,000 was distributed to those who had approached the CM for assistance on Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day.
Piggery loan of Rs 51,52,000 was distributed to 56 individuals and dairy loan of Rs 7,20,000 to six farmers. A total of Rs 37,95,000 was also handed over to 65 Self Help Groups (SHGs) benefitting around 725 families.
Stating that the loan distribution programme was held to encourage and promote self-employment in the state, CM Biren lauded MSCB officials and employees for upholding the new government’s mission to help the skilled and hard-working unemployed persons.
The Government has been able to help the needy through the information and feedback gathered from personal interactions with the masses on Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders’ Day, he said, adding that many persons, who approached him for assistance on these two days, were provided financial help in the form of loans. Since the coming of the new Government, MSCB Ltd. alone had distributed loan amounting around Rs 3.5 crore to different individuals, he said.
The CM expressed pleasure that internationally renowned fashion designer Robert Naorem was among the individuals who received loan on Sunday.
Khurai MLA L Susindro and MSCB Ltd Managing Director A Subhash Singh were also present at the programme.
