IGP (Adm) appeals for withdrawing stir

IMPHAL, 16th Feb: Stating that the total shutdown called in hill districts from Friday midnight by DPC completed police constables’ association is unreasonable, IGP (administration) IK Muivah has appealed to the association to call-off the strike. The police officer also appealed to people of the state not to extend support to the 48-hour total shutdown being called till February 18 midnight. Addressing media persons at his office chamber Friday, IK Muivah said a case is still pending at the High Court of Manipur regarding police constables (male) recruitment held in 2013 and similar recruitment held in 2016. The same court had on October 13, 2015 ruled against declaration of the recruitment results and an inquiry committee led by justice N Binoykumar completed its investigation and submitted a report to the court. The court had also scheduled next hearing of the case on March 20 and hence declaration of the recruitment results lies entirely at the hand of the court and government cannot do anything, he said, adding that government would act as per ruling of the court.
